Two Open Graduate Research Assistantships (Masters or Ph.D.) at OU School of Meteorology

The research group led by Dr. Aaron Hill in the School of Meteorology at OU is seeking at least two Master’s or Ph.D. students beginning Fall 2024. Research topics will be flexible depending on student interests, but could focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning applications for weather prediction, convection predictability in changing climates, or processes leading to tornadogenesis in QLCS storms.

Qualifications:

  1. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in atmospheric sciences, physics, environmental sciences, computer science, or related areas.
  2. Experience with data analysis and visualization using programming languages is preferred. Python is the primary language used in the Hill group.
  3. Ability to work independently and as a team in a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment.
  4. Excellent English oral and written communication skills.

Location: Norman, Oklahoma. The School of Meteorology resides in the National Weather Center (NWC), located on the Norman campus of the University of Oklahoma. In addition to the School of Meteorology, the NWC houses state and federal organizations on weather and climate-related research and operational programs.
